I'm Just 03:21
I’m Just With all due regrets I’ll tell ya I’m sorry you can’t be my priority I’ve got first things first And it’s only of necessity I’m just trying to keep my daughter’s father From falling down the stairs and missing her big fight I’m just trying to help my wife’s husband Finally get the combination right I’m just trying not to miss the mark When the going is good Necessity falls down the stairs When the combination is right Not all the way misunderstood Not all the way misunderstood I’m just trying not to miss the mark When the going is good Trying to keep my mother’s son From being all the way misunderstood Necessity falls down the stairs When the combination is right Not all the way misunderstood Not all the way misunderstood With all due regrets I’ll tell ya I’m sorry you can’t be my priority I’ve got first things first And it’s only of necessity I’m just trying to keep my daughter’s father From falling down the stairs and missing her big fight

The Face of the Earth Look upon the face The face of the earth Let it be home, let it be good It wants to be, wants to be good Be its creators My friend Snydroski doesn't Care what you look like But I'm on the fence 'cause I think you're beautiful Be black enough for you Be white as you have to be We're all just passing, Whistling past this grand catastrophe When the smoke clears Let's all be from everywhere Take our queue from blue and Make purple, green and What has to be Functionality Musicality 7 billion interlocking pieces and A peace to make a lasting thing A beauty upon the face of the earth A beauty that is The face of the earth A beauty upon the face of the earth A beauty that is The face of the earth

Animal Face 02:20
Animal Face There’s a man with an animal face in the coffee shop today He keeps his head down, won’t look in your direction Like a dog that’s been into the garbage His clothes are non-descript, but cover as much of him as possible When he speaks, it’s a hiss not a howl He’s proud of all the territorial pissings behind him

Me (Infamy) 02:59
Me (Infamy) You were hoping I'd turn out differently I get that, and I have some sympathy I coulda been a contender A bottom-feeder provender I'll side-step fame and go for infamy Maybe choice is an illusion Maybe the joy is in the doing Maybe the world we build's a new one Maybe it's matryoshka, maybe it's tree rings Rotten without the thing at its heart Your expectations have a fractal delivery system If I let you have your way on one then it's Geometric distribution On down into my DNA and Everything I used to hope would make me Me
6.
You 02:30
You This song will infect you Leper outcast unclean It will teach you to suffer It will make you obscene And it's always been the point It's always been about you I took a leap off the pier with the platonic ideal I said taste this it's awful I give you flint and tinder And a rocket-fuel shower And I hope you will go up like me This song will infect you Leper outcast unclean It will teach you to suffer It will make you obscene Your murder (I hope it will comfort you) Will be a spectacle they've never seen A snuff film of cosmic proportions An end to all that's ever been This is the schizzle This is the bomb "I love you" with Napalm and spleen

Pegasus Born in an Okie well My mother was a gorgon but My father never fell Shape of a seahorse Form of a swan Don’t ask me for a ride because You can’t get on You know my name You’ve seen me in your dreams You may know my face but it Isn’t what it seems I got places to be More destinations worldwide I’m not that other guy With all the soldiers inside Don’t listen to those guys about those shoes Percy had trouble getting ‘round With me he cannot loose You know my name You’ve seen me in your dreams You may know my face but it Isn’t what it seems You oughtta see me now No reservations ’bout the Muses And they still know how You oughtta see how far Just take a tip from the Big Dipper Past the northern star

All the Truth You drank all the truth in the room You made it into one very pretty tomb And that’s the best I can say for your modus operandi You’re not content to have me do my best You’re not on board with the love boat in my heart Which is full to the bow With imperfect things It’s full to the brim with Everything There’s a lavender field in my dream It’s everything it can seem I put my back into the climb Some zip in my zing With my eyes on the prize of that glorious thing That flower of fire sitting high on a summit And it’s asking for picking and I reach out my hand And my hand’s on the flat of your greasy thigh

That One Big Thing It’s that one big thing Or I could say ‘well done’ It’s the only thing behind me It’s what keeps me on the run And thanks for the offer But there’s nothing you can do It’s that one big thing And only I can follow through When you’re tired Into which hole do you crawl? It’s been a while Have you done it, Have you done it all? When you’re on fire And you can’t see side-to-side Call me a liar But you haven’t done it Haven’t done it at all It’s that one big thing Or you could say ‘well done’ It’s that only thing behind you It’s what keeps you on the run And thank me for the offer But there’s nothing I can do It’s that one big thing And only you can follow through When you’re tired Into which hole do you crawl? It’s been a while Have you done it, Have you done it all?

Skull Man 02:28
Skull Man We play our subtle tunes Our colors kiss the lines We shave the bits you cannot see So the trains will run on time Ha! Skull Man, I like the way you go Put all the insides right out there Put your bean up on the block And let 'er blow We've got them lined up Give that first one a flick But to go, you know, you have to fall It's a bite, it's a claw, it's a scream These are the things that stick Skull Man, I like the way you think Put all the insides right out there Put your bean up on the wall And go clink, clink Political, polite, a matter of policy So civil, so savvy, a selfie soliloquy Beneath, we're ranting, we're panting We know and love you all We think we're ourselves But we're just synecdoche

Mr. Sparkle 02:13
Mr. Sparkle Mr. Sparkle, you know where you’re going through Mr. Sparkle, you know where it’s going to Lets us know when we were smaller than your eyes Lets us know when we nop, nep sighing Badda bop badda bop bop-ba Mr. Sparkle, you know where you’re going through Mr. Sparkle, you know what I’m coming to Lets us know when we were taller than your eyes Lets us know when we nop, nep down-size Badda bop badda bop bop-ba Mr. Sparkle, you know where you’re going through Mr. Sparkle, you know where it’s going to Memphis talking ‘bout how it’s midnight on your pier But then the net’s got a way to be I put one foot in front of the other I put one foot in front of the other I put one wrist in front of the other I put one And then I put two It’s the power of me and you

about

I write concept albums. But I never stop writing, so songs accrue... and sooner or later I have what I think of as an "in-between" album. This one right here is what I was up to between Favorite Monsters and The Inward Spiral, from about '18 to '20. Funny thing, but the in-betweeners often feel as whole and conceptual to me as the planned concepts. UNDERTOWN is mad and rambling, awe-struck and downtrodden, wild and tender. I do sincerely hope you enjoy your stay. Talk to the strangers!
